An Instruction of Usage Microwave Oven for Adults

The microwave oven is now an essential part of most kitchens. It is an excellent device to use. But it is useless, if you are not acquainted with an instruction how to use a microwave oven. It has 3 options. The first option is to heat up food. You should put your food into the oven and fix the time. Three short signals will inform you about the end of the heating. The second option is to defrost something. There are two steps: to point a weight and a kind of products like meat, fish, poultry or bread. But you can use the option “Promptly defrost”. • Follow the instruction manual for recommended operating procedures and safety precautions.
• Don't operate a microwave oven if the door doesn't close or damaged.
• Never operate a microwave oven if you have reason to believe it will continue to operate with the door open.
• Don’t repair an oven yourself.
• Don't stand directly against a microwave oven (and don't allow children to do this) for long periods of time while it is operating.
• Refer to the instruction manual for your oven. Some microwave ovens should not be operated when empty.

Dear ladies!!! Please be very attentive to your health, otherwise smoking can seriously affect both your own, and your baby's health!!! When you smoke, a lot of chemicals enter your body. I know that it’s too boring to you listen to my speech about smoking, but you must know some cases which probably set thinking about it.

First of all, smoking does a lot of harm to people’s health and kills an enormous number of them every year. Smoking causes bronchial troubles, heart disease and lung cancer. In fact, many of cancer deaths are caused by smoking. But nicotine is not the only bad thing in cigarettes, there are over a lot of chemicals in one cigarette that are very harmful.

Secondly, heart disease is now the number-one killer in our country! Majority of smokers want to quit but can’t. So if you’ve never tried smoking, you’d better not to do it at all!!! Many people think they can easily give up smoking whenever they decide on. That’s hardy possible. There is also psychological dependence on smoking.

Ania’s Writing Process
Personally I think that the writing process is very difficult. First of all, I think about the composition’s topic. I try to collect all the possible and suitable thoughts and make them in order. I often find this stage very difficult because it depends on the topic very much. Then I start writing. As for me, it is very enjoyable to express my own thoughts in the ways which I like. I try to choose the most suitable variant for each sentence. At last I check my composition. The last stage is often done twice because I sometimes tend to be a very inattentive person and make a lot of silly mistakes.

Audience considerations

In class we discussed the features of writing you need to consider to make your writing focused (narrowing it down to make it manageable) and meeting your audience knowledge of the discussed subject.

In order to feel the features of writing, taking into consideration its purpose and audience you are invited to write two letters on the same topic but for different audience. You should consider how the content and language of your writing will change depending on who the intended audience of your writing is.

You can choose the topic for your letters from the following list:

1. Going to a summer camp: teenagers/young adults (1) and their parents (2).

2. Dangers of smoking: teenagers (1) and middle-aged people (in the developed countries these are people in their 50s and 60s; in Russia in their 40s and 50s).

3. Explain how to use some piece of equipment (cell phone, computer, your choice) to a teenager (1) and a person in his/her 50s who is afraid of using technology.

4. Explain why you like a certain piece of music/a book/ smth of your choice to a peer who does not like this kind of music/books/your choice (1) and your parent who disapproves of your tastes.

Ksenya's writing process

Writing a composition is not easy for me. All my composition’s work I divide into three parts. The first part is to collect all thoughts and make a draft of them. The second part is to determine the main and the most important thoughts and put them in order. The last part is a process of writing. The first and the most difficult step for me is to write an introduction. In this part of essay I try to show the main idea of my work and to mention all my ideas. In the body I develop each idea and try to explain why do I think so, and what does these ideas mean. The conclusion expresses my attitude to the theme and collect main theses of my composition. All these things I make in a draft variant. Then I reread all my composition, and if it is correct, in my opinion, I rewrite it. But if it is not right, I change it’s part, make corrections and write another draft. I repeat all this procedure, until I have the best variant.

Irina's Introduction

I have an opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Irina, and I’m a student of foreign languages department of NSU. My department I not large, but all students are very friendly and kind. The students try to develop their language skills speaking, watching films in English or reading books in the original. All students, especially my group, always spend a lot of time together, and during this time we create bright, amazing, and interesting things. Each member of the group is a very extraordinary and amusing person, every time anybody brings fascinating ideas. L like each person of my group, and I’d like to stop as many moments of our university life as I can, so I often take pictures of my group matters. Taking pictures is my hobby, one of the way f spending my leisure time. In my opinion, making photos is a very tremendous and riveting process. When I take somebody’s picture, I really get a lot of positive emotions! All you need for an impressive photo is a good camera, an object of photography, and a bit of imagination. I like making photos of my group matters, because I can see them in any time and enjoy past moments of our life. Sometimes I suppose that haven’t had enough knowledge and skills to make a professional photo yet, but my own pictures are rather individual, and they shows my point of view to the world. There is no doubt, that I need to develop skills of taking pictures, because each of us should develop himself during his or her life. I know that there are a lot of different courses of taking photo and photo design, where I can learn much more about this process, find out interesting tricks of great masters of photography. There are a lot of people among my acquainteds, who are fond of professional photos, they take part in different festivals of amateur and professional photography. These people exhibit their works in some galleries, and now some of my acquainteds are rather famous persons in Novosibirsk. I admire their works, sometimes I get an interesting photo as a present, that is an example, which I should fellow to. I like this kind of art, so I get aesthetic satisfaction, which is a basis of the Beautiful Life.

Doc`s writing process=)

Why do people write?... Some of them want to share their ideas & emotions, others – to talk to themselves, and others – just because they like and really enjoy the process! Creation is a chance to understand lots of things, to grow, to enrich yourself with knowledge and experience, and, as a result, to share it with the world. Creation - the thing which makes us different. And I really like it.=) 


Writing an essay is like looking for an exit in a deep-deep forest. The exit is a well done composition, and everything inside the forest – material. One glade – one topic. My goal is to gather all useful things: flowers (inspiration), butterflies (ideas), herb ( my opinion), sticks (to build the best structure of a paper), and mushrooms (the most vital things – concentration, attention and will-power). 
The most pleasant process is enjoying flowers! It`s smell, colour. I choose one of them, pick up and put into my hair. Then, I should catch all the butterflies. It could quite difficult because I can immediately become fascinated by one of them (not necessarily the right one), and trying to catch it I might ran far away from my glade. Of cause it`s adventurous and exciting! But I should really be careful with butterflies=) 
  Unfortunately, the rarest thing in my forest is well-built mushroom. It is always a grate deal of trouble to find it out between toadstools! All the sticks are rather crooked and curved, but I think there are lots of them.
 After I was able to collect all the necessary stuff, I can go out from the forest and try to create my composition. While eating my mushroom, I build stick-cage for butterflies, put food for them there: flowers and herbs.
I really hope that through the time my deep and dark forest will become a wonderful clear and light place full of robust mushrooms, magnificent flowers, straight sticks and, of cause, appreciated herb! As for butterflies, I believe they never leave me!=)

Yana's Writing Process.

A word “composition” may mean different things in different circumstances. It could be a personal narration, a short work of fiction, an essay, a dramatic work or a poem. Composition is essentially your attempt to explain your point of view, and a skillfully written composition is clear, illuminating and informative.
To write a composition I always try to follow the rules. At first, to choose a topic or to decide for myself something I am interested in. It will make the composition easier to write. I can brainstorm a few different thesis statements and use them to guide my research.
Then I gather the information. This is the time to solidify the thesis statement.
I look over all of my research and notes: Can I observe any patterns or observations? Try to make a map to organize my thoughts. After that I should identify three or more points that support or explain the thesis statement. Each point should be supported by specific evidence, examples or arguments. After I write out all my points, arrange the point themselves, so that they flow logically from one to the next.
A conclusion can basically restate what was said in the introduction. If the composition is longer, I can sum up all main points.
The last stage is checking for spelling and grammatical errors, and punctuation.
By the way, the composition should have a serious tone, even is written in a light or lyrical style, avoid using informal writing. It is important to consult a dictionary to make sure that you’re using the synonym correctly.
In consideration of all the rules, I rewrite the final copy.

Margo's writing process

When I am going to write something, firstly, I concentrate on the topic of my writing and try imagine the situation or thing I will write about. Then I try to understand the main idea of my future writing. When I finish this preporation, I divide the whole theme into several smaller topics in my mind, and in accordance with number of these topics I decide how many paragaphs my future writing will have. So, when I finish thinking over a maintenace of the text, I begin to write it down. First of all, I write an introduction, and for some reasons which I can't understand this part of writing is my favourite. Then I write a main part where all ideas of the text are opened. Afterwords, I write a conclusion of the topic and reread the whole text. As I just said my favourite part is introduction, and it is usually the biggest in my paper. The main part is smaller than it should be. And the conclusion is the smallest. I think that the most enjoyable things in writing are reasoning and describing nature. On the contrary, the most frustrating is writing the main part, espessialy describing actions. There is a step in writing where I return again and again. It is the maintenace. I can rewrite the text as many times as I reread it, but I'm never satisfied with my work. Finally, I check grammar, spelling and punctuation and write a text fair copy, check it and finish my work.

How does American culture influence on me?

The most obvious point of influence for me expresses in watching Hollywood films. I fond of watching all kinds of films and that’s why I’ve watched a great number of them. In my opinion, characteristic features of American movies are: fascinating plot, participation of many celebrities, closeness to human values and therefore understanding them by people of almost all ages. Watching movies helps me to relax, have fun and simply spend time pleasantly. The second thing is American modern music. I love to listen to many singers and bands because I find them original and talented. Moreover while I listen to songs I try to translate and understand their meaning that improve my English. And the third point is American food- so called fast food. Many people consider it like junk food but it really helps me in situations when I don’t have enough time to cook thereby eating such kind of food saves my time. But in spite of definite harm I find it delicious.

Olya's writing process

Even the most creative work has its own strict rules of writing which everyone must remember, when they begin to write. As for my writing process, it has several stages which I would like to describe.
Firstly, I thoroughly think about the theme of a composition, make some notes, read necessary literature. Secondly, I try to structure the material which I am going to write about in a draft. Thirdly, I begin to write an introduction where I place the main question or statement of the composition. Moreover, I give an approximate sketching of the following narration to explain to readers my thoughts and aims. In addition, in the body- the main part I write the most important facts and evidences to prove my opinion. Here I place the weightiest arguments. In conclusion I write final points of the composition and combine all considered things. Then I read the whole composition to check grammar and punctuation. If there are any mistakes, I correct them or rewrite all composition entirely.

There are different kinds of writing that you do, with some of them requiring more time than others. For example, writing a journal entry can take the form of free writing when essentially you just sit down and write usually to focus your thoughts or to brainstorm ideas to later develop an essay.

Essays usually require you to present your ideas in a logical and consistent way, that's why it requires more planning and more preparation.

In any case, though, you need to revise and edit your work before publishing it.

In your entry describe what difficulties you have when composing something. Also, give an example of a case when doing a writing assignment is easier for you and explain why.

Be as specific as possible and provide examples to suppor your answer.

Post your answers in the blog by Wednesday so that during Thursday you could read some of your peers' responses and comment on at least one of them.

Also, take a look at the dictionaries you use for your everyday studies. Make a list of them and think which of them you would like to make a presentation about in class during this semester. More details in class.

Ksenya's introduction

This essay is a story about a girl, who decided to start a new part of her life in Novosibirsk. I do not really know why I decide to study in Novosibirsk, but I am sure that I have done a right choice.

At first I want to tell you some words about my birthplace. I was born in Sakhalin in 1990, and my hometown is Kholmsk. Kholmsk is the second large town in Sakhalin, the first is Yushno-Sakhalinsk-the capital of the island. Obviously my town is rather small. Only thirty thousand people live here. Kholmsk is the main Sea Gate of the Sakhalin region, that is why almost all men in my town are sailors. My father and mother are sailors too, and the made the acquaintance working on marine. Nowadays my mother does not work on marine any more, but my father is still working there. Also I have an elder brother. He is a student of the last course of the Tomsk State University, but he lives and works in Kholmsk.

Kholmsk is a wonderful place for those who want quite and calm life. The main places of interest in my town are the seafronts. These places are very popular among local residents. Also there are a lot of beaches, which situated not far from the city. They become popular in summer. Honestly I do not like summer in Sakhalin, because it is often rainy and windy, and I prefer winter to summer. It is rather cold there, but very picturesque. Sometimes I really miss winters in my hometown.

Now I live in dormitory of the Novosibirsk State University. I am a student of the second course. I study English and Japanese. I have chosen Japanese as the second language, because I was in Japan several years ago and I was really impressed by its traditions, customs and culture. Also Sakhalin is not far from Japan. It takes you only one day to get there by the ship.

During my school-life I had a hobby, which I devoted eleven years of my life. This hobby was dancing. I went to school of modern dance. It was really a fabulous time. Now it is difficult for me to combine dancing with study, that is why I do not go in for dance any more. But now I have another hobby. I collect postcards and press cuttings from different magazines.

I can not say that I am very sociable person, but I like to meet with new people and share different information with them. In conclusion, I want to say that each person is interesting in his or her own way.

My name is Ania. I Live in Novosibirsk. I study at Novosibirsk State University. I am very hard-working. I have a fabulous time when I work. Every day I do some work about the house and sit down to my lessons. I spend a great deal of time on them. I’d like to learn the Japanese language and I believe that I shall work in Toyota centre. I want to become an interpreter. I hope that my dream will come true!!!
When I am tired after a long working day, I listen to music. I prefer classic music and RAP. The classic music helps me to relax, and RAP can raise my mood.
From time to time my friends and I walk around the centre of the city, visiting small cafes and shops. I have got brilliant friends.
Every evening my boyfriend rings me. When he calls for me, we often go to a restaurant or a night club. I like when people give me compliments. My boyfriend does it every day. I love him with all my heart!

First of all, let me introduce myself: my name is Olga. I’m 18 years old. I have come from the capital of Kazakhstan –Astana. It’s very young and nice city, the second largest city (behind Almaty)
I do not have any special hobbies, like collecting something, but I have some inclinations. Unfortunately I do not have much spare time because I'm a student. That's why I have to study a lot. I like doing different things: such as reading classical novels, listening to the music, taking photos, going to art galleries, museums and theatres

But my favorite hobby is learning Japanese language and culture that’s why I chose this language as my second language at the university. On the one hand it’s rather difficult to learn it, because of enormous number of hieroglyphs and grammar, but on the other hand, Japanese language is one of the most interesting and unique language in the world. It’s so fascinating to learn it! This summer I have attended Japanese courses in Hokkaido centre, where I was learning not only grammar, but also a lot of new information about Japanese culture. One day we had a lesson of wearing the kimono-traditional garments of Japan. They are typically worn with number of belts and choice of pattern dictated by social status and the occasion for which the kimono is worn. Also we had a lesson which was dedicated to calligraphy. Calligraphic art is not simply drawing letters or hieroglyphs, it is a specific philosophy. The style and format of the writing play one of the main important roles in it. The process of creating the work is considered as much an art as the end product itself. Also we had a tea ceremony, in which we were taught how to make tea, what sweets are grown with tea and many other secrets.

Moreover, I love solving crossword puzzles. It's not only interesting, but also very useful. When you try to solve the puzzle you find out and learn a lot of different facts. Because in puzzles there are questions about famous people, geographical places, countries, scientific achievements and so on. You also train your brain. All the members of my family like to take part in solving the puzzles and this unites us very much.

All things considered, I can add that in spare time or in holidays I prefer to increase my knowledge, reading, solving puzzles and doing some other useful things. As for sport, I simply prefer watching to do it. Hereon I would like to finish my narration.

My name is Hrunina Margarita. I have been living in Novosibirsk all my life. I don’t think that somebody wants to know when I was born and about my school time. I just can say that I am a second year student and that I’m learning English and Japanese languages in the Novosibirsk State University now. Because of lessons and home tasks I haven’t much free time and when I find some hours to rest, I prefer to use it with profit. Let me write some facts about me. I am not very sociable person, unfortunately. But now I am trying to become one. I can’t draw very good, I mean, my works are not awful but they are worse than I want. I think I draw people very bad. Besides I absolutely can’t sing. My singing is horrible. But instead of this I can listen. I like to listen music and I like to listen people’s speech. I can be a good listener. If somebody asks me about my hobby, I usually say it is reading. Then I will think about my answer a while and say, “No, my hobby is writing”. Usually when a person says he or she writes something or want to be a writer, others become sceptical or begin to laugh. I don’t think there is something funny in a dream like that. If a person want to write, he should try to do it. I like writing. I don’t like the prosess or the result. No. I like to think and image, and I write my thoughts because of some reasons. First, I want to remember well pictures of my imagination. Second, I want people hear me, see my inner world and this is the best way to make it. You know when you create something new, what nobody hadn’t seen yet, it is the same as creation of new world, your own world. People can hardly understand each other because they can see just face, body, cloth and so on. They can hear your voice but they don’t listen. Every person think just about himself (or herself), and this is normal but I think many people want they were heard. As I said a moment ago, creative work is a way to show your inner world, to discribe your feelings.

My name is Anna. I’m eighteen. I live in a small and beautiful suburb which is called Krasnoobsk. I’m a second-year student of Novosibirsk State University.
Quite a big variety of things can interest me. I love listening to music. My favorite styles are r’n’b and hip-hop. It gives me a lot of positive energy and makes my mood much better. But I don’t limit myself by these concrete styles. I can be also interested by compositions from other styles. If they worth listening, why not? In addition to this I love dancing. I was attending the dancing club during nine years. Unfortunately, I was to give up this wonderful activity because of the lack of time. Now I try to use every opportunity to dance for my pleasure. Also I like reading books. Personally I think that an interesting book is the best way to relax in the evening. I can find out a lot of interesting, amazing and useful information from them. Although I don’t cook so much, I really enjoy it. Especially, I like to cook cakes and some sweets, because they’re very tasty.
And, of course, I love to spend my time merrily and funny. That’s why I try to spend much time with my friends. We usually go for a walk all together into the centre of the city. There are a lot of different kinds of entertainments, so we can choose what we’d like. We often go to the cinema to watch a new film’s premiere. After that we usually go to some cozy cafe and chat practically about everything. We also like playing bowling and billiards very much. And we always play tricks on each other and have fun.
I suppose that my life is full of pleasant moments and activities. However, I still want to improve it adding something new and more exciting.

I am really interested in foreign languages like English, Japanese, German and Latin. My dream is to know more languages, to communicate with people all over the world.
I enjoy traveling. I have already been in China, and I was really surprised with Chinese ancient culture and age-old traditions. I guess I’ll visit this country once again.
My interests include dancing, cooking, taking photos, listening to the music. Cooking is the most amusing activity. I prefer doing salads (if you want to taste some interesting salads you’re welcome I’ll send you a recipe). As for listening to the music I like to learn the words of the song by heart, and then to repeat it after a singer.
Some other things I would like to share would be my weakness for all beautiful things like art, fashion, cinema, photos. There is always a camera in my bag, because it is amusing to take an unexpected photo and to imprint a second of my life in a picture.
This is only a bit about me that I would like to share with you.

Congratulations on becoming a member of a growing community of bloggers! I'm rather excited that we decided to have a blog as part of the course. It'll be great if you contribute your ideas to the discussions will have here and activities we'll do.
