graffity

There is a baeutiful graffity painted on the corner of my house! I haven't got it's picture... It was the first one I've seen! There is only one world 'SMILE' in Russian. It has been painted about 7 years ago, and now it is not so colorful as it used to be! It was an awsome action to draw such a graffity on the gray wall of ordinary house. Every day lots of people pass this wall look at it and smile) it improves people's mood. Such graffities MUST exist!

p.s. I'll surely take a picture of it and post it here in couple of days!

and what do you think

Guys, how do you personally feel about of graffiti? The main thing that matters to me is special graffiti exhibition! I really believe that we appreciate this art because of it has an element of surprise and embodies freedom! And when the graffiti are put in a gallery we lose all these features of pure graffiti.

Ksu's point. Graffiti: crime or art?

POSITIVE
  • Graffiti is a great method to express your feeling and emotions
  • It's a good way to make some places more bright and attractive
  • It can help to hide some ugly places in your town
NEGATIVE
  • Some graffiti may contain bad words
  • It can be dangerous for graffiters
  • Sometimes graffiti prapagandize racism

This graffiti are really wonderful, i think! The vampire is mischievous and full of energy! The excellent mood for these last weeks of studying;)

I adore graffiti, because you don`t need search for art, it eventually finds you, and strikes deeply.

I really believe, that graffiti are art! More over, they are art in crime) it’s not a secret that after your painting on someone’s wall or car, there won’t be many thanks to you. But the point is what you draw and haw you draw. A writer must really believe that he is making art, not vandalism. He should feel responsibility for the culture he promotes.

Is it graffiti?

I had a look at the graffiti you have posted in the blog and decided to find out a little bit more about different kinds of graffiti. I actually looked for and found a quite simple answer which I'm inviting you to get too by following the link below:

Graffiti Defined

Have you seen graffiti in Novosibirsk? What category do you think they fall into?

Graffiti - art in crime

I`ll try to persuade that graffiti are art in crime and it`s not so bad

Points for:
1) graffiti is pure selfexpression and art
2) means of communication: a talk without words
3)it has the scence of breaking laws
4)you need huge courage to paint it and then laeve it

Olya’s list of points: ''Is graffiti an art or a crime?''

Positive points

Negative points

  1. form of vandalism and a menace
  2. people find it ugly and offensive
  3. graffiti creates a sense of anarchy and chaos
  4. graffiti is a dangerous pastime
  5. graffiti disrupts travel
  1. Art galleries have exhibited work by famous graffiti artists
  2. graffiti is as valid as any other art form
  3. graffiti has been show case for creative talents
  4. some graffiti art is better than some official public art

Description of Olya’s favorite graffiti:

After I had watched the images of graffiti I choose one which I like most of all. This graffiti is called “All seeing eye will eventually get us”. It impressed me greatly by it’s frighten view and a little bit strange selection of colours. The eye is appearing among the dark sky and people are blinded by it’s bright light. I consider that this graffiti is meaningful and contains much moral reproach at people. Moreover, it has strong religious ulterior motive, typifying a figure of God who can see everything and judge any person. This graffiti sets me thinking about human behavior, that we should thoroughly look after ourselves analyzing actions and attitudes.

A Graffiti

There are a large number of different pictures of graffiti, but I have chosen this one. The graffiti was borrowed from one Internet-site, in which I have found the information, that the picture was painted on one of walls of London. To my mind, this picture does not give any particular information about the author. One can see in the picture the nice yellow creature, that is keeping its postbox. May be the creature is waiting for the next letter or something else, we can't say exactly, but the graffity is a sigh of the unknown author, the author wanted to leave the mark after himself, and he did it.

Yana:Graffiti:Is it art or crime?

Positive points:

  • A way of self-expression
  • A good pastime
  • A way to decorate grey neighborhood
  • Job

Negative points:

  • Dangerous
  • Lead to other crimes
  • Expensive to deal with
  • Spoils landscapes (city streets, buildings, Underground)

I've choosen this graffiti because SpongeBob SquarePans is one of my favourite character from Nickelodeon cartoons. Also I like the way in wich this graffiti were drown. It's very bright and colorful. Sponge Bob and the fish are smiling, and as soon as I saw this picture I wanted to smile too. I thunk that the author of this graffiti wanted to share his or her positive emotions which he or she had got from this creature!Sponge Bob is a bright example of true optimist! He always keeps smiling in any situation, and may be the author wanted to say that we should be as positive as Bob! In my oppinion if you see such a picture in gloomy day, it will rise your mood without any doubt!

Graffiti

People think that graffiti is a crime and graffitists just bring the harm to the streets and spoil buildings by the pictures which mean nothing. People don’t take graffiti as a serious art.So graffiti became a night street art because during long time graffitists were forbidden to express their ideas painting on the walls at the day light. This graffiti movement resists this prohibition and fights for their legitimate desire to paint.

Graffiti

Hello--

a) Post your graffiti descriptions in the blog and read a couple of other students' descriptions and comment on them. Deadline: Monday Dec 15.

b) Read the article (Graffiti-1 file) and 9 comments about graffiti (Graffiti-2 file) and the article Writing on the Wall I sent you in email on Dec 10. Study the opinions expressed in them and decide which of them can be used in the discussion of the question whether graffiti should be considered as art or a crime. Then see whether some of the points you have singled out repeat - it's possible because you will work with 2 articles - or whether any of them can be combined because they add to each other. When finished, list your points in a blog entry which should be posted in the blog Monday Dec. 15.

All in all, you are posting your graffiti description and a list of points to consider in an essay discussing whether graffiti is art or a crime. Your graffiti description can be used as an opening hook.

Then read several posts by your peers and respond to them.

Graffiti

Unfortunately I couldn't explore the link we were given but I wanted to find a picture. So I looked through some sites about graffiti and find a few pictures that are seems to me beautiful. I think that some of graffiti are real peaces of Art. They are created with effort. And I think that beatiful, good-painted pictures should be legal because for me it is better to look at the wall looking such as photo shows than at an empty boring wall. http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDoXgEJJhmMBozKjzbkF/SIG=128qu128p/EXP=1229181335/**http%3A//www.flickr.com/photos/24293932@N00/325809237/

Actually I wanted to findone site where pictures of floor graffiti are located. These are pictures of illusions for example an abyss drawn on the street looking so realistic that you can feel danger and fear if you are close to it. But I didn't find it.
