Is Wikipedia an Authentic Source of Information?

We have discussed a couple of times whether Wikipedia articles can be trusted and how the information posted on Wikipedia should be treated.

I was surfing the net today and came across CuteWritng blog which is devoted to the discussion of a wide range of questions connected with writing and the use of technology among other things.

Click on this post's title, which will take you to the post on this blog where people explain whether or not they trust Wikipedia and why.

Read this blog entry and then post yours in this thread. Looking forward to exchanging opinions with you on the given topic.

I have followed to the link and got acquainted with the discusion about Wikipedia. I have known, that any person can add data to articles in this Internet-source, so I realize that not all information in the Wikipedia is correct and it is not always worth to trust. Wiki can give only smatterings which help to learn a topic, a thing in general, but this knowledge is not for preparation to classes or for using in academic writting. So I'd like to agree with one of the members of the discussion in Tweeter that 'Wikipedia is a good place to understand a topic and get links to the most relevant resources.'

I see. The next thing to learn to do is to collect relevant information, sort it out, and be able to incorporate it into your writing with all the necessary refernce information.
