Yana, this shelf shows the books from my home library. I put them on display so that you could see what are some of the books I like and use. If you are interested in any of the books, you can first read about them on Amazon.com, the link to which is provided with each book title, and if you decide you would like to have a closer look at the book, I can lend it to you.

Nataliya Yuryevna, I'm very glad that you've made this shelf. I found it very useful. It was a great surprise for me to find there the book "About a boy", because I saw the film wich was made acording to this book. I like it very much. Also I followed the link and on Amazon.com, I found a discussion about the book and the film. I think that it is rather interesting to compare a book and a film.

Ksyusha--

Why were you surprised to see "About a boy?" on my bookshelf? I absolutely loved it because N Hornby's managed to make his characters such that you can't but feel compassion for them. What is more, the book raises quite a few questions every person worries about, such as relationships with other, borders of normality, growing up, building friendships and so on. In addition, its language is filled with all sorts of expressions that people use today.

As for book vs movie debate, this is one of the questions I'm interested in. Often people say that they like the book more than its film adaptation, and there is a good reason for it. When you read a book all the imagery is yours, but when you watch a film the imagery belongs to the film director and the film crew. Often yours and theirs do not coincide, thus dissatisfaction with the film.

What did you like more the book or the film?
